In an ideal world motivation would be purchasable, easy accessible and easy-to-use, like the latest iPhone. Why is it so difficult to get motivated about the right things?
My aims for today: a workout, uni work, email businesses about interning, dye my hair and meet up with a friend. They’re all productive, useful tasks. The question I’m throwing out to you today is: Why are we not motivated to do the things that will actually benefit our lives? Don’t get me wrong, I had a really good day today. I just didn’t do any of those things. I ate fatty food, went to the cinema and had my nails done. I’m going to be really honest… I don’t think these were productive at all. And I know I’m not the only one with this, I think everyone’s experienced the moment of ‘Oh I should go for a run’, and instead you realise you’ve been sat watching Youtube videos for 2 hours such as: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxhtawThGBc . For me, this process usually results in something incredibly healthy like a Chinese takeaway. Not productive at all, yet I’m more motivated to do it?! I genuinely do not understand why I always seem to be motivated to put crappy food into my system and watch shows about people I don’t even know. Maybe this is a negative point of being alive in the technical generation though, I’m sure back in the day they had other methods of procrastination like…milking a llama or something.
Anyway, if any wonderful people happen to read this and happen to have any tips/tricks/magic spells on how to enhance the little smidgen of motivation I possess – well jeez, it would be awesome if you could share. Thanks for reading.
